If there are two things that are synonymous with a beauty contest then it is a swimsuit and a sash. Whilst the beauty contests are probably not quite so popular as they were a few years ago, the market for them has nevertheless grown larger than ever. This is due mainly to new print techniques which allow smaller economic lengths of ribbon to be printed, which in turn has meant that printed lengths of ribbon are now increasingly being used as hen party sashes and birthday sashes.

Have different text on each sash

The ability to produce printed ribbon in small quantities by printing direct on to the ribbon means that for something like a hen night, it is possible to produce a selection of sashes, where the text on all of the sashes is different. It also lends itself to a quick change of ribbon colour. So on a typical hen night, the Bride's sash could be a different colour and have different wording than the others without incurring a lot of extra expense.  It also leads to the possibility of putting a different message on each of the personalised sashes. So each one could have a different name or nickname on the sash.
