Ordering & Personalisation Guide

Personalised badges, rosettes and sashes can be customised in many different ways. This guide explains how the personalisation process works and shares a few helpful tips.

While the process is straightforward, each product type has slightly different considerations.

BADGES and ROSETTES

Choosing Your Wording

  • We don’t charge per word, but badges and rosette centres have a fixed printable area. The more wording you add, the smaller the text will need to be.
  • Text positioned near the top or bottom of a badge or centre will appear shorter due to the circular shape.
  • If you’re unsure what to include, take a look at our wording ideas guide for inspiration.

Selecting Colours

  • You can choose from any of our standard badge or centre designs and customise the colours to suit your event.
  • Please note that we laser print badges and centres, so we’re unable to match specific Pantone colours exactly.

Adding photographs

  • If you’d like to include a photograph, you can upload it when placing your order.
  • Please ensure the image is complete (for example, no cut-off heads, chins or ears), as we can only print what appears in the photo provided.
  • Higher-quality images produce the best results.

Proofing/Approval

  • For most standard designs, we do not send proofs in order to keep turnaround times as fast as possible.
  • If you supply your own finished artwork, a proof is usually unnecessary as we print exactly what is provided.
  • For rosettes, we offer an online preview tool so you can see how different ribbon colours work together.
  • Due to the number of possible colour combinations, we’re unable to provide stock photos of every variation.

Common Mistakes to avoid

There are several common mistakes that are made.

  • Adding too much text to a badge or rosette centre, especially if the message needs to stand out.
  • Using images downloaded from the internet without permission — many logos and images are copyrighted.
  • Supplying artwork without checking spelling or legibility at the final printed size (rosette centres are 57mm).
  • Using dark text on dark backgrounds without outlining the text for contrast.
  • Cropping photographs into a circle before sending — images need to wrap around a bevelled surface.

SASHES

Choosing Your Wording

  • There’s no strict limit on wording, but for best visibility we recommend keeping text within an area of around 50cm in length.
  • Sashes are 10cm wide and typically accommodate one or two lines of text that can be read clearly at a distance.

Tips for choosing colours

  • Choose from our available sash colours, but bear in mind that dark text may not show clearly on dark ribbons such as navy or purple.

 Adding logos

  • We can add a logo to a sash, provided it is a single-colour design.
  • The logo colour must match the text colour.

 Proofing/Approval

  • For straightforward text-only sashes, proofs are not usually supplied to avoid delays.

Common Mistakes to avoid

  • Requesting specific fonts without checking that they are licensed for commercial use.
  • Overcrowding the sash with too much text.
